Make-a-Wish

As many of you know Mike was granted his wish by the Make-a-Wish foundation of Colorado. Two weeks ago we left for Disney World and had a whirl wind trip full of fun! We purchased a new digital camera so we could take lots of pictures and always remember the special time we spent together as a family thanks to Make-a-Wish and all of their sponsors.

Since there are so many things I want to share and TONS of pictures I decided to let you in on what we did each day! I'll try to do an update each week if not more! So here goes with day number one!
Monday May 18

After a relaxing night at a hotel in Denver we were off to catch our flight! When we arrived in Orlando there was a greeter there from Give Kids the World (I'll tell you more about these wonderful people in a minute). He helped us get our luggage find our rental van and did his best to make us all feel special.
We arrived at Give Kids the World just in time for a quick tour and yummy dinner. Give Kids the World is a special place that these wish kids stay at that is just as magical as Disney World. Each year they give 7-8,000 kids a place to stay that are having their wish to got to Disney granted. There are thousand of volunteers that come throughout the year from all over.

Not only did we stay in our own villa, complete with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, but there were so many activities that the kids could be a part of all week. They have a kiddie spa, riding stable, carousel, magic castle, theater, arcade, miniature golf course, accessible playground, pool and an ice cream parlor. It was an incredible place and a star with Mike's name on it is on the ceiling of the magic castle along with 70,000 other stars from all the wish kids that have stayed there.

If you'd like to learn more about Give Kids the World or it's founder you can go to their website.

Here are a few pictures of our first night there. The first three are of our villa and the last one is the ice cream palace. Ice cream from 9-10 every day! You'll also notice the rain ponchos. These were part of our daily attire for the entire trip! I though Florida was the sunshine state, we all most got washed away!

Spring in the Mountains

It has been a while since I've posted anything. We've had an interesting spring thus far. It got really warm, then cooled off and then got warm again, then it snowed. We got 3 inches the day of my sister-in-laws wedding reception. That's spring in the Rockies! Kirk said he remembers snow on the 4th of July as a kid. YIKES!!

This weekend my sweet husband let me take a few days off and go to Women's Conference at BYU. My dear friend Jessica watched the kids after school until Kirk got home, so thanks to her too. It was a busy weekend full of some interesting classes and some fun time with family. Now I'm hooked and I want to go back next year!!!

There was a concert Thursday night with some very talented artists. If you haven't watched the " Reflections of Christ" video it's incredible. Go to youtube and type in reflections of christ and you can see the video. The images are beautiful and Freddie Ashby has an amazing voice. "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" is one of my favorite songs. Hilary Weeks is great too. She sang some fun little songs about teenagers and being a mom.

All in all it was a great two days and something I would highly recommend to everyone!
